Day 1

Thursday, 23 May 2019: Miami - Havana

TBD Arrival in Havana
You will be met by your guide upon arrival. He will hold up a sign that says group name for easy identification, transfer to hotel

Check in Hotel Parque Central or similar

Delve into the history of Havana from its birth in 1492 when Christopher Columbus discovered the island to modern day Havana. Visit the Morro Fort then explore New Havana's main neighborhoods: Centro Habana, Mirarmar and Vedado. Travel in time through the Spanish War of 1898 the US controlled governments, the Cuban Revolution of Fidel Castro and Cuba today.

On the top floor of a spectacularly dilapidated Havana tenement, La Guarida's lofty reputation rests on its movie-location setting (The Oscar's nominated Cuban movie "Fresa y Chocolate".

Old Havana Walking Tour

The tour takes you on a stroll through the four main plazas, Plaza de Armas, Plaza Vieja, Plaza de San Francisco de Asis and Plaza de la Catedral, giving you an insight to the truly magnificent and powerful place Cuba held in the Caribbean for centuries. Also, some insight into the world of Santeria - Santería is a fusion of Catholic practices and African folk beliefs. It emerged in Cuba during the 17th century, and has been embedded in Cuban society ever since. These days, it’s far more prevalent than Catholicism on the island—Santeros outnumber Catholics by 8-1. Cuba is still the religious center of Santería, but the faith has spread to many other countries as well, including the U.S. Tour ends at El Bosque, popular site for Santeria rituals.

Owned and operated by one time private chef of Fidel Castro, the style of the place is thoroughly Mediterranean, located on the second and third floors of a building that is 200 years old, there is a comfortable airy feel to the restaurant and the food is excellent.

Exploration of Havana

Dinner El Cocinero Paladar
El Cocinero is a paladar that used to be an old vegetable oil factory located in Vedado. 
Following dinner a stop next door, Fabrica de Arte, Fabrica de Arte is a must-see nightclub, performance space, and art gallery hybrid in Havana. Art enthusiasts of all varieties gather in this span of exhibition spaces, featuring modern and traditional Cuban art. Genres of art include architecture, visual arts, cinema, dance, graphic design, industrial design, photography, fashion, music, and theater. Visitors are able to dance, dine, and appreciate the galleries

Saturday, 25 May 2019: Havana

Havana Mob Tour Experience Havana the way the American “Cosa Nostra” did. Visit the haunts of the Mafia-Greats such as the "boss of bosses" Meyer Lansky. The stops include the former hotels and casinos of the Mafia which were nationalized after the Cuban revolution. You will visit the Hotel Nacional and the exhibition detailing its history. The “Havana Conference” was held at the hotel, an event which every Mafia-Boss was present at.

Miramar is a residential district (zona residencial) of the municipality of Playa, in the city ofHavana.

After lunch explore the area of Miramar, many embassies, including the landmark Russian embassy, are located in Miramar - in particular on Quinta Avenida (Fifth Avenue) before called Avenida de las Américas (Avenue of the Americas).
Prior to the Revolution, the neighborhood was home to many of Havana's upscale residents. There are many large houses and mansions here. This district and the Country Club (Cubanacán) were the most glamorous spaces in the Havana of the 50s. There are also some of Havana's more modern hotels such as Hotel Melia Habana, Oasis Panorama Hotel and Occidental Miramar, beaches and private rental house.

Tropicana Night Club

Show at "Salon Bajo las Estrellas" a city institution since its 1939 opening, the world-famous Tropicana was one of the few bastions of Havana's Las Vegas–style nightlife to survive The Revolution. Immortalized in Graham Greene's 1958 classic Our Man in Havana, this open-air cabaret show is little changed since its 1950s heyday, with scantily clad señoritas descending from palm trees to dance Latin salsa amid bright lights.

Morning visit to Abdala and Egrem Recording Studios

These studios are where Cuba’s great musicians have recorded for more than sixty years. As one of them put it, they were recording “their passions, their feelings and their music.”

Even American performers Nat “King” Cole and Josephine Baker poured out their hearts here.

It was a 1996 recording session that really put this EGREM studio on the international map. That’s when two foreign record producers pulled a group of aging Cuban musicians together and formed the Buena Vista Social Club.

Lunch at Rio Mar Paladar

After lunch visit the former home of Ernest Hemingway, Finca Vigia; Ten miles east of Havana near the small fishing town of Cojimar is Hemingway's home - Finca Vigia, meaning "lookout house". Here, Hemingway wrote two of his most celebrated novels: For Whom the Bell Tolls and The Old Man and the Sea.

Farewell dinner at L'Atelier Paladar with special musical surprise/private concert.
